See What Happens At D-Groups!
What is a D-Group?
D-Groups simply stands for discipleship groups. They are small groups of 4-6 people that commit to meet together once a week for 52 weeks, with the goal of learning what a disciple is and how to become a disciple-making disciples as Jesus called us to in Matthew 28:18-20. The goal is to spend time accomplishing these things:
1. Read the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) This is where we learn the specifics of what Jesus taught his disciples and engaged the community around him. The system we have adopted of daily reading will take you through the three chapters about 6 times each week. This provides a depth to understanding and paying attention to what you are reading in a far greater way than just reading through the chapter once.
2. Read discipleship themed books. Most week we are reading one to two chapters per week. When the year is completed, you will have read through about 4-5 books with the group.
3. Read other books of the New Testament together.
4. Accountability and encouragement in a small group discussion setting. The meetings that happen once a week, last for about an hour and a half. We encourage this time schedule being kept. If you are away one week, we offer the chance to make the meeting available via video call or even phone call.
5. Work on scripture memory. Each week we have a verse that we work to memorize together.
