Going Outs and Coming Ins

Day 1

Read 1 Samuel 18

What do you think was going on in Saul's mind?

David seems to be experiencing a great amount of peace and order, while Saul seems to be chaotic and all over the place.  Notice how many ways Saul's heart and mind seem to change.

Have you ever experienced this sort of chaos and negativity toward you when you were following God?  How did you deal with them?

How can this be a prayer for those around you this week?

Day 2

Read Deuteronomy 28:1-14

We will spend a few days looking at this chapter.  It is a long chapter! This section talks about the blessings that come in following God.  Read verse 1.  What does this chapter seem to set up as the standard of knowing good and bad?

When have you struggled with knowing what was the will of God and how have you worked through understanding that better?

Go through each of the blessings in this passage and try to think about what they mean in your life.  For instance, you don't have cattle probably, so how what is the idea you are supposed to get here?

How can you turn this into a prayer for your life today?

Day 3

Read Deuteronomy 28:15-35

This passage changes from talking about the blessings of following God, to the curses of doing things the other way.  As you read through this depressing list, how have you experienced a version of this at some point in your life?

Think back at the David and Saul story we looked at in 1 Samuel 18.  Which of these did we see in Saul's life as he was jealous of David's success?

Why not take some time today to go on the app and share how God has blessed you this week as you think about Deuteronomy 28?

Day 4

Read Deuteronomy 28:36-57

In your days before the Lord, or in running from God, how have you experienced these ideas that are talked about in these verses?

At this point, it really starts to get repetitive.  The good news is we have another section to go.

Which of these "curses" of not following God's way would be the most difficult for you to experience and why?

How can you make this part of your prayer today?

Day 5

Read Deuteronomy 28:58-68

We finally finished it!  What a depressing week of reading.  But, remember the good news that we do not have to experience this in life!  We have been offered the blessing.

How do we receive the blessing again (Look at verse 1 and 58)?

What can you learn from this chapter this week that you need to see in your life?

How can you make this all part of your prayer?

Take some time to leave a message on the app and share a little of what God is revealing to you this week through His word.
